Christmas tree décor 2019. Rustic style. Minimalistic.

The Christmas tree was first used by German Lutherans, but there are also records that a Christmas tree was placed in the Cathedral of Strasburg in 1539 (#wikipedianerd).  Gradually, the decoration of Christmas trees became an overly commercialized  family tradition in the Western world.

Growing up my grandparents always had a real fully grown evergreen tree in the house. With little to no ornaments  (like popcorn garlands and dried flowers).  Ehh, there is nothing like the smell of fresh pine in your living room (#childhoodmemories). It seems as a wonderful tradition to bring to life once our little one gets older.  For safety’s sake though, we will stick to the plastic version for a while.

I wanted our tree to be as natural as reasonably possible, I used the traditional colors – pine green (evergreen), snow white, and heart red.  An added a little twist –a golden spark and a handful of Christmas lights as David is obsessed with anything Lighting & Lamps.

To render a more natural feeling to our living room, I added a bunch of large pine cones in a glass serving bowl from Ikea – you know, the one we put our salad in. I’ve also put some red Christmas  candles (we received as gift last year) on the shelf between our family photos.

Did you already put your Christmas tree up?
